torso.pngThink of the torso as a cylinder surrounded by muscles. The muscles of the torso are the “prime movers” in initiating and carrying out our daily activities. Equally important, they provide stabilization, support, and balance. Lower back pain is one of the most common complaints today among people of all ages and levels of activity. Did you know that lower back pain can be caused by weak abdominal muscles? (Back pain can result from injury, and if it does it is critical to consult with a doctor.)

Core conditioning is a program of exercises that target the muscles of the body’s core. An effective program of core conditioning will address all the muscles around the cylinder – front, sides, and back – to ensure balance and symmetry.

A Stronger Core = A Better YOU!

At Fitness-at-Heart our commitment is to YOU, and our focus is on YOUR personal needs and goals. We tailor conditioning programs to meet your specific requirements and to help you achieve your personal fitness objectives.

Everyone benefits from core conditioning – “couch potatoes,” active people of all ages, even elite athletes. Yet some people have very specific needs. Are you

  • a busy Mom who seems to spend more time bending and stooping than sitting and relaxing?
  • a weekend golfer whose swing could use a little more power and whose back could use a little less soreness?
  • recuperating from a recent illness or surgery, and finding yourself deconditioned and out of shape?
  • a senior who would like to be able to pick up the grandkids or stand up out of a chair unassisted?

sittingonball.jpgLet’s face it, you know that time in the gym would benefit you. But it’s not always easy to get to the gym, and the atmosphere and all that equipment can be intimidating. What to do first? Where to begin? We work with you in your home, office, or exercise facility to design a challenging conditioning program that won’t be an unpleasant experience.

We use stability balls, resistance bands, hand weights, and your body’s own weight to build core strength, balance, poise, and confidence.

We work with you individually, or as a couple. Group programs are also available.

One-hour sessions by appointment:
